Exploring Gib -- pt 2

Gibraltar

Gibraltar has been one of the most amazing places I have ever been. On one side are the Straits of Gibraltar, on the other is the Rock of Gibraltar. A few days ago we arrived here after going through the Straits, today we just finished climbing around the Rock. Over the last few days we have mainly been fixing the boat, but today we explored the Rock. When we woke up this morning we had a brief breakfast, then headed out into the Old Town part of Gibraltar. We soon reached the cable car base station and purchased tickets. We got on board and the cable car started towards the top. We soon had an amazing view of the city. We also saw some of the monkeys that the Rock is home to. At the top, the view was fantastic. We started walking towards the north side of the rock, but we soon got lost. We eventually found our way again, but at the expense of most of the day. We saw the incredible caves that were dug into the Rock for shelter during sieges. Another interesting place was the Moorish Castle, and of course the monkeys were sighted everywhere. We will come here again when we leave the Mediterranean, but I will always remember this first visit.
