I don't know about the other boats, but for us, shore power has been a
major problem. When we finally fix the problem that we are dealing with,
another comes up almost immediately. It is most frustrating. First we
tried to make a power cord that could connect to the Portuguese power
outlet on shore, we found out that our plug that we were trying to
attach had a connection screw that was rusted tight. When we couldn't
get the screw off, we tried to find a hardware store that was still
open. It took us about half an hour to find one and get a new plug. When
we plugged it into a borrowed outlet (all the outlets were taken), we
found out that our European transformer was shot, we needed a new one.
When we borrowed another portable transformer, we found that something
was wrong with our internal AC (alternating current, not air
conditioner). At that we gave up and decided to call an electrician on
Monday. I swear, so far our shore power has been particularly infuriating.
